GOP leaders scheduled the vote after Democratic primary voters embraced a number of democratic socialist candidates.
What this is actually about:

This is pure Republican PR. They included a poison pill in the resolution so that Democrats would vote against it, and then they can associate those Democrats with socialism. The reality is that far more than 8 Democrats would have voted in favor of the resolution of it hadn’t included that.
So who are the 8 democrats who are morons and thought condemning socialism was more important than protecting voter rights?
“They’re trying to force us all into brutal gulags, suppress dissent, torture us and kill millions of people!”
— Says the people who support forced prison labor, solitary confinement, waterboarding, suppress dissent and the ongoing death of millions through economic imperialism.
Cute. And they even got their trained pet news agency to write a whole article about it
How precious
Still have millions of American children starving, yes? Tens of millions of Americans without healthcare? glad to see that this was so much more important…
But Israel need support , and ammo ,lots and lots of ammo,
Yeah, well, so does Tennessee
Except they’re actually Americans
Why need Tennessee lots and lots of ammo ? , revolution ?
If anything, counterrevolution, because there’s a lot of brainwashed people there that like to stay stuck in their religious delusions/cults and are anti-progress. Their “religious freedom” involves suppressing others who don’t agree with the cult of their Semitic sky wizard.
Was that supposed to be a sentence?
Lol
Okay, then disassemble your military. No more paid education, healthcare, housing and subsidized groceries. That is, after all, socialism.
Roads, police, fire departments, all socialism too.
The police and military are not socialism. Socialism is not “when the government does stuff.” Ghenghis Khan was not a socialist.
Never tried to define socialism like that lmao, practice that reading comprehension. Also I’d never call Genghis a socialist but honestly he was closer than most people would think, for instance look at that advanced tax system with exemptions for doctors, educators, and poor people…his empire was shockingly progressive, I highly recommend looking into it more.
Never tried to define socialism like that lmao, practice that reading comprehension.
You literally said that the police are socialist.
Really? Doubling down on showing that poor reading comprehension.
Roads, police, fire departments, all socialism too.
police, socialism too
Sure buddy.

Yeah, well, when fascists call capitalism they don’t like “socialism”, they can fuck off anyway.
The way this should be phrased is “Many Democrats join Republicans in condemning Social Security and Medicaid. Vowing to end social programs that help Americans.”
Replace Medicaid with Medicare to scare the Boomers more.
But two moderate Democrats — Golden [Maine] and Gluesenkamp Perez [Washington] — defected and helped the procedural vote succeed, putting some of their Democratic colleagues in a politically tricky situation.
House Democratic leadership condemned Golden and Gluesenkamp Perez’s decision later Tuesday.
“The decision by two of our colleagues to blindside the entire House Democratic Caucus and join with the Republican majority to pass a procedural rule on the brink of failing represents a significant breach of trust. It is an action that necessitates a serious response, and we have asked the Committee on Caucus Rules to take this up in short order,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said in a joint statement with House Minority Whip Katherine Clark and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar.
I can hear the strongly worded letter being typed up now!
The Democrats who supported the resolution included:
Reps. Kathy Castor of Florida,
Henry Cuellar of Texas,
Don Davis of North Carolina,
Jared Golden of Maine,
Vicente Gonzalez of Texas,
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington,
Darren Soto of Florida and
Gabe Vasquez of New Mexico. Those who voted present were
Reps. Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania and
Maggie Goodlander of New Hampshire.Fuck every one of these DINO ass hats. I hope they all get cancer.
Just want to remind everyone - Pelosi supported and even robo-called on behalf of the anti-choice right wing D.I.N.O. Republican Henry Cuellar over his progressive primary opponent Jessica Cisneros… who he beat by only about 200 votes.
Oh, also Cuellar is pro-NRA… and Nancy Pelosi’s robo call support for him beating Jessica (again the pro-choice candidate that the NRA did NOT prefer) went out on THE DAY OF THE UVALDE SCHOOL SHOOTING.
What exactly does this accomplish? Or is it just more masterbatory self-affirmation bullshit?
Yes, that plus it gives spineless Dems in battleground districts a chance to go “see? I condemned them! I’m one of the ‘good’ ones! Please don’t vote me out and kick me off the corporate gravy train!”
Performative bullshit. Socialism already exists in this country. See US Agricultural as an example.
Voted for the resolution: Kathy Castor (FL), Henry (TX), Don Davis (NC), Jared Golden (ME), Vicente Gonzalez (TX), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA), Darren Soto (FL) and Gabe Vasquez (NM).
Voted present: Reps. Chrissy Houlahan (PA) and Maggie Goodlander (NH).
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez
Also a staunch Zionist and a huge fan of AI. She took the seat after redistricting swung it from 60/30 R to 51/49 D.
If you wonder why people despise Democrats, this woman is a textbook example of why.
Jesus was a socialist
And a Palestinian Jew
The Judeans Peoples Front!
I thought it was The Peoples Front of Judea!
Nah dude, Jesus was chill with literal slavery
The only people who can’t afford socialist policies are the wealthy. And if you are reading this, that is not you.
They absolutely can afford it and will still be grotesquely wealthy. The ultimate goal is the eliminate class distinctions all together, but that might not happen instantly.
“We’re capitalists. We believe in a capitalist system and rules and laws,” the California lawmaker said Tuesday morning Who’s we? People seriously call themselves capitalists when it’s not immediately followed by a justification for slavery with extra steps, crimes against humanity, or planet-destroying surveillance technology?
Capitalism has failed us. They might as well say we are failures.
We must condemn this disgusting idea of the government actually helping its citizens!

Marie Gluesenkamp-Perez’s name comes up on these “defections” with regularity. She is essentially a moderate Republican, but that’s not a thing anymore, so she’s a Democrat. Her district is historically rather red, so we are unfortunately unlikely to get anyone better there anytime soon.
I know some people in Vancouver, WA that hate having her as their rep, but unfortunately her district is large and otherwise pretty rural, so they’ll continue to suffer having her to “represent” them
Yep. Within the city limits of Vancouver WA it’s becoming more reliably blue, but as soon as you hit unincorporated Clark county…well there’s a confederate monument. And Clark County is probably less red than the other counties also in the district. I do have my frustrations with Gluesenkamp-Perez, but we were depressing close to having the clown-show that is Joe Kent as our representative.
I think things are slowly changing, but unfortunately there’s still so many people here who’s whole schtick when it comes to politics are “HURRR DURRRR WE AREN’T PORTLAND LIBTARDS”.
“…WE AREN’T PORTLAND LIBTARDS”.
Too bad, huh?
That name raises my German eyebrow
