cheat like hell like they do

Sociologists find that universally, in countries with persistent corruption, the populace believes “everyone is doing it” – and that therefore, they are being taken advantage of unless they do the same.

It’s this pervasive sentiment that makes it so hard to break. It is a memetic social disease.

I was talking to an Indian immigrant here in Canada and he said they have a word for it and its part of the game. Like he got cheated out of a bunch of money into a shady real estate venture so he was able to get here. But then it all went south and lost his “investment” so he couldn’t do what he wanted to here.

I thought he’d be way more upset and he just was like yeah, he got me good! I should’ve been thinking about being cheated but I’m glad to be here even if I now have no savings and limited options for work.

At some point corruption becomes so pervasive that it just becomes a fact of life. I’ve grown up in such a country and it’s soul crushing. You go to a city clerk to get the most mundane paper? Better get them some coffee or your paper will get lost and mishandled that you get it too late. Going to the doctor to get checked out? Better get something for the receptionist or you’ll be waiting to see the doctor for a long time, someone somehow was always scheduled ahead of you. Need to get your car’s two year check-up done? Get a 6 pack of beer and the mechanic will overlook that wobbly wheel that you don’t have the money to replace right now.

That’s also why the Republicans have been working so hard to convince people that “there’s no difference between the two parties.”

If there’s no difference, there’s no reason to oppose the corruption of Party A because Party B will do it too.

Exactly why eliminating their voting rights is the only way to fix this. They’ll continue to cheat as long as they can vote.

The fix isn’t more cheating. Although some prison time for the worst offenders is appropriate.

No, the true fix is taxes on the rich until they no longer have the power to skew society.

And a national voting holiday, with a voting system that doesn’t ever force you to chose the lesser evil.

Score, Approval, and STAR are three options that would actually do it. All three are cardinal voting systems. We all use variations of the three for low stakes decisions, but for some reason, we decided that the most broken Ordinal voting systems should be used for high stakes decisions.

“Please raise your right hand. I pledge, to the greatest president in the history of the United States, that loves us so much he can’t even breathe, that I will go out with my family, my friends, I’ll do it any way, I don’t care if I’m registered or not, I’m gonna try and cheat like hell like they do, there’s never been bigger cheaters, they don’t care. I am gonna go out and I’m going to get my friends and family and we are going to vote on November 3rd, or we are going to vote before that!”

    The prayer of modern Republicans.

And you never thought it would reach this point.

The Pledge of Allegiance to America, has been replaced by the Pledge of Allegiance to Trump. We all knew this day was coming. This is the official beginning of the Dictatorship.

Well actually I’ve been evangelizing about this eventuality since the late 90s, and many since long prior. It was always inevitable unless we took control of the controlled opposition or made a new party, and that didn’t happen.

By their designs, they might not succeed. They will if we let the moderates run the resistance obviously. Or let me say establishment they aren’t moderate.

The succession fight could be the last chance to take it from them before they perma-fix it. Sounds melodramatic, but it’s just dramatic, and true.

You seem to miss the point. The point is that the Republicans are going to cheat. It doesn’t matter how many votes the opposition gets, because it won̈́’t be a legit election.

Obviously we would need to do things other than just voting to get there. And the democrats will not do them, not the establishment.

I am well aware I can assure you, but they will be weak, infighting, and unpopular after this president is out of there. Stabbing each other in the back, an organized group could well, nevermind.

Do yourself a favor and zoom in on those faces. Holy shit it’s wild. Old lady in purple borderline sign heiling, horror level wide smile plus multi chin bottom left, Mimi level makeup dead center, token POCs, etc.

The republicons - so much projection, as usual.

The cons have been ratfucking and ratfucking for decades now. They would likely have next to no power if it was not for all their ratfucking.

When studying faces in a crowd that has gathered for any reason, I sometimes look for expressions that tell me something about the individual through an ubiquitous expression of the group. In this still shot, I notice a very beaming yet dull look. There is something very self indulgent in this expression and less self awareness than usual as well. I wouldn’t expect much, considering the implications of the overall gesture they are giving in relation to its standing in civic ethics but this is still clearly the collective face of a moron.

They have dug themselves in way too far to allow a fair election to fill seats with non-loyalists.

They are going to do everything they can to make it look close but still ending in their favor.

I fear this only ends in 1 of 2 ways — and decentralized nation-wide civil unrest and violence on behalf of Trump supporters vs actual patriots who support the constitution is “the good ending”.

The bad ending is they steal it and we collectively roll over and spread our cheeks for them and we accept that reality is just that everything gets worse forever and ever until the infrastructure/economy fails and we all just die, or these insane clowns fire off a nuke and initiate Armageddon. Either way the bad ending is they destroy America and/or all of human society.
