Agreed, and if anyone is having difficulties with this they should access EAP support through their workplace or talk to their GP about access mental health support.

Is the M1 still down? I haven’t been following it as I don’t often use it.

Hope everyone survived the heatwave over the weekend! Looks like we’re in for some rain for the next few days!

Honestly amazing work! Going to have to run it sometime!
I’d love to see more of these projects get approval as it’s great both for an active city and to help reduce temperatures in the city. Personally I’ve toyed with the idea of removing the north shore line from Wynyard to Chatswood and replacing it with a light rail line + bike path. Would make for a pretty phenomenal cycling highway which could be quite heavily forested!

Really frustrating.
There are some important points raised by some of the councillors, namely the excessive car spaces to the proximity of public transport (though they do note that it is only a bus line so I’d be curious about capacity) and the reduction of affordable housing.
But it is frustrating to see the local Greens councillor trying to block the development in its entirety. The constant blocking of new development results in both the state government removing decision-making from local council resulting in construction not in line with local development and it forces the government to push for larger developments because it worsens the already short housing supply.

Agreed! Personally it’s always baffled me that we haven’t had more alfresco dining areas on the light rail line through the CBD! The lack of cars makes it such a nice route to walk when I’m in the city and even the delivery riders seem to stick to the light rail track keeping them out of pedestrian areas!
Hopefully this new policy helps make the CBD even more lively!

I think it’s definitely a difficult situation to deal with. Because we’ve let Sydney grow out for such a long time (and it’s still expanding!) I think it’s been really difficult to consolidate services and infrastructure!
Honestly I don’t think there is a right way to go about it. If we capped housing then it will only make the situation far worse but with the size of Sydney it’s going to be incredibly difficult to ensure adequate access to things like public transport. I always look at the Ryde region as a good example. Stuck between two CBDs with very little mass transit options so everyone is basically forced to drive.
I’ve thought about taxes for people who choose to buy into these new suburbs to disincentive driving but I can’t see how we could build such a policy without accidentally targeting people who have lived in the Sydney surrounds for years before these new suburbs have been developed!

It’s good to see these projects slowly getting approval across Sydney. I particularly like the use of mixed residential-commercial buildings.
Centralising shops like supermarkets really helps reduce the burden of cars on the road!

Just found out that there is a concert for Elden ring coming to the opera house early next year! Debating on buying some tickets!

I really enjoy watching cockatoos! They can be super emotive (as can all the other parrots we have in Sydney!). I particularly like their little chirp they made when they know they’ve done something wrong but got away with it!

No problem, it’s one of the things I like most about Sydney! Not many cities where you can encounter bushlands and trails <5km from the CBD!

Water dragons can be so photogenic! I really like how the light and shadows play off their scales!

Gore Creek! The waterfall is Lilly Pilly Falls

Been a tremulous weekend. A pretty big down but managed to finally get to a bush trail I’ve been eyeing off! Managed to snag a couple of photos (which I’ve played around with editing) but I’ll have to head back sometime as there is a bird that’s been eluding me!

Same, on the rare occasion I need to use a rideshare/taxi service I often wait a few KMs in case they’re dropping someone off on another app. Then I start texting and reporting. If they’re able to tell me why they’re going to wrong way I’m often okay to wait a few extra minutes!

This seems like a good time to plug the 13cabs app which allows you to book taxis like you would an Uber. When there is surge pricing I find the fares become equivalent. Also helps that the price is locked in up front.

They just drive the wrong way telling you to cancel the trip instead…

Fantastic to see! It’s good the state government has allowed the inner west to build an approach that is better suited to the area! It’s just a shame that the Greens voted against the plans. Needless blocking will likely just have the state government erode the responsibilities of local council.

Oh no need to apologise! I had no idea you had to manually post it! Thanks for putting in the work to keep the community active :)
I think it’s important that we write to our local state MPs to ensure that they’re made aware and that they know their electorate won’t condone neo-nazies in Sydney. Especially after the attack last night.
