I’m just not buying shit for a while. My garden is in full bloom for heat tolerant shit, and I got root veggies just starting to sprout.
First it was raw veggies with the cyclospora, now meat can’t be trusted. I’m over this. You can only trust you it seems.
What are some heat resistant vegetables to grow? And do you use some mound or above ground box? I’ve seen people grow potatoes that way
Tomatoes, peppers, and surprisingly fennel.
Shop local
Meat, yeah. But veggies are outrageously overpriced when trying.
maybe only like 120% cheaper
It’s not about being cheaper. It’s about culling the poor. They are allowing for cruel and unnecessary deaths so they can pinch some pennies.
It’ll just make you a little horse.
If there are any input cost savings, the meat packing megacorps are just going to pocket the difference anyway.
Less demand though. Enough People might avoid beef for the price to drop significantly.
It’ll get cheap enough and then be sold for dog food.
Less demand though.
Especially once a few cases of mad cow disease start popping up in people who’ve eaten beef recently.
Then the plummeting demand will lead to a glut of supply, and prices will actually go down! Brilliant 23-D chess move!
Sounds like donnie the dotard is trying to do some short-term “fix” for a problem of his own creation, shortly before the election.
Wonder what happens after Nov 3?
People that ate the meat, get sick?
While US beef production is geared towards steaks and ground chuck, most other countries focus on growing lean beef.
The almost certainly low quality meat being imported (countries aren’t going to export their good stuff to Donnie), likely isn’t even going to end up in your local grocery stores as steaks or ground beef. It will be used in other areas of industry with massive orders. Think filler for frozen dinner meatballs, etc. where the raw quality isn’t a priority. Where the lower quality stuff already goes.
Which also means that this won’t actually affect customer prices in the slightest. Those companies will just pocket the 25% discount on their input costs.
Meanwhile the US beef farmers get screwed yet again, because the increased consumer pricing never makes it all the way back up the chain to the actual farmers.
…Meanwhile the US beef farmers get screwed yet again,…
Eyeahhhhh. Check out the youtube chanel “Farming While Beige” and listen to the guy’s videos… he has some fairly spot-on points about farming and farms in the US. Some of it is stuff I kinda knew about, but did not realize just how much more was true.
His most recent post - https://www.youtube.com/shorts/CwogYy7LFoE
At the end of this particular video - the list of the stuff he rattles off. Holy shit.
Hmmmm.
The price is going to exponentially increase over time regardless of what Trump’s little circus today does because factory farming is unsustainable. I wish people would stop supporting wide scale animal abuse along with the rampant ecological disasters, pollution and climate change that come from this.
Even more so because of the breakdown of globalization and supply chains
Entirely meaningless compared to the crippling cost of living.
“Ass covid… round 2… SHIT!”
“FATALITY!”
