What an epic game, I haven’t really gotten into it beyond the initial zone but even the world building of the default starter zone is fantastic. I feel like this game transports me to a different place more than any AAA game with gorgeous graphics.

I’m sorry I am not trying to dispute the spirit of your respose but I have to disagree, freight trains are thousands of feet long and haul unbelievably large quantities of material, the idea that it is inefficient to have a human (really a pair of humans) oversee and be responsible for a machine that large is laughable honestly.
…so is the idea that there is a genuine shortage of people willing to work as conductors, it is a convenient lie companies tell to rationalize why nobody wants to work for them because they pay shit and respect their employees so little that they won’t even give them unpaid time for necessary doctors appointments (see recent action of US train workers).
This point is even more true for passenger trains.
It is a massive responsibility we can afford to pay two humans to do it, a certain micro amount of inefficiency is ok.
Why do we need to get rid of the job of human radio presenter?
Techbros keep telling me AI frees people up to stop working shitty jobs and pursue their dreams, but the truth is none of these tech evangelists give a shit about anyone’s dreams if they aren’t some lame vision of factorio where the factories pollute the planet churning out ripoffs of human culture.
Pathetic showing for a massive waste of talent and money.
This is good news and between Operation Harsh Doorstop/other unreal engine games in the pipeline with modding support and arma reforger/arma 4 we are finally leaving the era of stagnant big map shooter design where modding options were basically the source engine or sticking to the ancient and abandoned bf2 engine.
Will performance be prioritized in development though? Given bohemias track record I doubt it, and it really heavily limits the potential of their games compared to a game like Easy Red 2 or Operation Harsh Doorstop that can easily simulate large battles on even a mediocre gaming computer with humans and tons of ai.
I doubt arma 4 will ship out of the box with half the gunplay polish OHD or Easy Red 2 already has and again performance will probably be atrocious for the equivalant experience.
Then again Dayz actually has pretty great low end performance, so I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised.
I don’t mean to be negative tho this is definitely good news!
The minecraft modding scene is also a serious longterm threat to microsoft making money off minecraft, so I hope the Luanti modding scene continues to grow!
(I don’t think microsoft will necessarily kill java minecraft but microsoft clearly sees minecraft java as a dead end, you are fooling yourself if you think otherwise)
Hell yeah I love it!
now that you mention it though wow an arcade read dead with a light gun and paddle for cover that replayed intense missions from the game would probably work really good actually…
It isn’t that the gunplay is slow and clunky, I like all kinds of shooters from operation harsh doorstep to xonotic to cod mobile to easy red 2… I like shooters pretty much however they come, but I would barely quantify red dead as a shooter.
To say the gunplay is weak, shallow and poorly integrated with level design is an understatement and I think is a shame because otherwise red dead 1 and 2 are phenomenal games.
meh I could never get past the fact that the red dead games just have shit gunplay in my opinion, it is kind of shocking how little rockstar seems to care about putting fun rewarding gunplay into their games.
how about we try remastering more games with with well paid human game devs who are given job security and are allowed to actually have a healthy worklife balance?
damn I have been using this damn program for… decades?
I have been yelling at it in frustration for equally as long… but seriously in terms of raw, no bullshit, consistent utility to people, GIMP deserves an immense amount of credit.
darktable kicks ass and I say that as someone who hates editing photos almost as much as I like taking them!
fyi at least in the US you are only legally allowed to make death threats (or carry them out for that matter) if you are actively driving a motor vehicle at the time, please for your own safety if you are going to murder someone or threaten to murder them, do it behind the wheel of a motor vehicle or you could end up in serious trouble with the law!
whos got recommendations for lesser known horror films?
I agree and I think a salient reframing of your statement is teenagers typically more than anything else want to be treated as adults, to be a teenager is to constantly be observing young adults and attempting to emulate their social behavior. So the question becomes why do we tolerate toxic adult conservative men setting such a cruel and hateful example that teenagers then copy and magnify?
What some teenager screams at you in an online match is just a shrill echo of the serious and dangerous ideologies modern (and not modern) conservatism is explicitly founded on and violently defends the “right” to spew everywhere in every context consequences be damned (the consequences being a feature not a bug).
Same lol
Yeah I mean so long as the playerbase is good your win rate is always going to trend towards 50/50 which as someone who really doesnt need to win to have fun is honestly ideal, it means every match I play is a compelling self contained narrative where every choice I make matters towards tipping the scales in my favor.
From my perspective the competitive part is just there to pull the strings taught on the core gameplay experience and make the game come together into a cohesive experience where every element matters and is genuinely in conversation with other elements.
Again I cant stand playing with toxic competitive players tho, and I understand people being turned off by that.
Side note: definitely the coolest game on the unreal engine currently is the free and moddable tactical shooter (with vehicles) Operation Harsh Doorstop.

There really hasnt been a good modding plaform for games like this since Battlefield 2, which genuinely makes me sad but atleast we are out of that era now and new ideas can start to happen in the genre multiplayer big map shooters with vehic!es!
There are plenty of Ubisoft games I would buy if they werent by Ubisoft.
Even if I want the game though, it just isnt worth the bullshit not to mention, will my game even work after Ubisoft inveitably cancels support for it?
Ubisoft in every aspect from blatant slaps to the face of customers in their behavior to boring overly simplified map janitor mechanics treats its customers like they are gullible sheep who will sit there and tolerate whatever bullshit Ubisoft shoves down their throat so long as the graphics are pretty.
I swear I can feel the condescension oooozing out from their corporate boardroom from thousands of miles away.
Every single Ubisoft game would do better with sales if it didnt have Ubisofts name on it, I am quite confident in that.
I love steep tho, sigh
lasers are way slower than bullets they are super easy to dodge, have you never even seen star wars?
