  • I’m sorry I am not trying to dispute the spirit of your respose but I have to disagree, freight trains are thousands of feet long and haul unbelievably large quantities of material, the idea that it is inefficient to have a human (really a pair of humans) oversee and be responsible for a machine that large is laughable honestly.

…so is the idea that there is a genuine shortage of people willing to work as conductors, it is a convenient lie companies tell to rationalize why nobody wants to work for them because they pay shit and respect their employees so little that they won’t even give them unpaid time for necessary doctors appointments (see recent action of US train workers).

This point is even more true for passenger trains.

It is a massive responsibility we can afford to pay two humans to do it, a certain micro amount of inefficiency is ok.

This is good news and between Operation Harsh Doorstop/other unreal engine games in the pipeline with modding support and arma reforger/arma 4 we are finally leaving the era of stagnant big map shooter design where modding options were basically the source engine or sticking to the ancient and abandoned bf2 engine.

Will performance be prioritized in development though? Given bohemias track record I doubt it, and it really heavily limits the potential of their games compared to a game like Easy Red 2 or Operation Harsh Doorstop that can easily simulate large battles on even a mediocre gaming computer with humans and tons of ai.

I doubt arma 4 will ship out of the box with half the gunplay polish OHD or Easy Red 2 already has and again performance will probably be atrocious for the equivalant experience.

Then again Dayz actually has pretty great low end performance, so I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

I don’t mean to be negative tho this is definitely good news!

  • I agree and I think a salient reframing of your statement is teenagers typically more than anything else want to be treated as adults, to be a teenager is to constantly be observing young adults and attempting to emulate their social behavior. So the question becomes why do we tolerate toxic adult conservative men setting such a cruel and hateful example that teenagers then copy and magnify?

What some teenager screams at you in an online match is just a shrill echo of the serious and dangerous ideologies modern (and not modern) conservatism is explicitly founded on and violently defends the “right” to spew everywhere in every context consequences be damned (the consequences being a feature not a bug).

  • Same lol

Yeah I mean so long as the playerbase is good your win rate is always going to trend towards 50/50 which as someone who really doesnt need to win to have fun is honestly ideal, it means every match I play is a compelling self contained narrative where every choice I make matters towards tipping the scales in my favor.

From my perspective the competitive part is just there to pull the strings taught on the core gameplay experience and make the game come together into a cohesive experience where every element matters and is genuinely in conversation with other elements.

Again I cant stand playing with toxic competitive players tho, and I understand people being turned off by that.

  • There are plenty of Ubisoft games I would buy if they werent by Ubisoft.

Even if I want the game though, it just isnt worth the bullshit not to mention, will my game even work after Ubisoft inveitably cancels support for it?

Ubisoft in every aspect from blatant slaps to the face of customers in their behavior to boring overly simplified map janitor mechanics treats its customers like they are gullible sheep who will sit there and tolerate whatever bullshit Ubisoft shoves down their throat so long as the graphics are pretty.

I swear I can feel the condescension oooozing out from their corporate boardroom from thousands of miles away.

Every single Ubisoft game would do better with sales if it didnt have Ubisofts name on it, I am quite confident in that.

    I love steep tho, sigh
