If you want to stay with whatever provider you have you can try openVPN over TCP or a SOCKS proxy over SSH (both TCP traffic). Anything TCP might be faster than WG

Yeah, that sounds about right to me. I’d look for a different provider if you’re looking for speed. Like I said above, OVH was unusable to me so I went to hetzner.

Lookup “lowendbox” if you want something cheap. I used some Christmas or new year deal at racknerd that was alright.

You could also try a VPS from hetzner and see if its any better. Here’s my speed test just now using WG on my cell, exit through Hetzner.

Is your test TCP or UDP? My guess is that’s TCP traffic.

Your VPS provider can rate limit as specific as a single UDP port. Try a different WG UDP port or wrap your WG traffic in TCP with other software and try again.

My WG traffic looked like a DOS attack to OVH and I got blackholed for 5min, then 15, then 30.

My guess is your provider is rate limiting your UDP traffic.

I’m not sure how to do what you’re looking for but you can install rockbox on the iPod and then just copy the music files over normally. That’s what I’ve done and it works fine on Fedora.

100% don’t buy from Purism. I had their laptop. Librem 14? 15? And I gave it away to a friend after about a year. I had so many problems with it.

I don’t mind the old kernel, packages, etc. However, one of my biggest problems with debain so far is that SELinux isn’t installed by default… I’ve installed and enabled it but it doesn’t seem to let me SSH in. I’m still troubleshooting but its annoying to have to fight with it.

I’d love to continue to use Fedora but I have no faith in RedHat. They don’t give a shit about their community anymore, including Fedora, so I believe its just a matter of time before that’s dead too.

This was my thought exactly. Work is a RHEL shop and I had settled on Fedora after distro hopping. Ubuntu was for the new guys getting into Linux.

My self hosted services were all CentOS and more recently Rocky/Alma. After the shenanigans RH pulled to make their source harder to obtain, I’m working through my personal ansible scripts to get up on Debain. I’ll never go back to RHEL or the forks.

Yeah, you’ll slso need all the dependencies but it’ll work.

For me, Its the call forwarding option. My Cell provider has a special number in there for unanswered calls. If you forward that to a number that isn’t real all unanswered (and blocked calls) will get a 'this number does not exist" message.

Be careful with this because real callers and people you know will get the message if you don’t answer.
