Yeah or change VPN location. It’s a fairly standard forum site.

I would suggest also posting this on discuss.pixls.us - there are some very knowledgeable people there.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Plebbit is the the most decentralized selfhosted social media protocol And why development slowed DownEnglish
7·12 days agoSounds cool. I always wondered whether something like Lemmy could work P2P or like a mesh network.
Every weird problem in the future is gonna make you wonder if it’s because of that.
Pretty much what I’ve realised about doing anything weird with my system. I want a peaceful life.
Is there a neurospice that loves finishing things off but not starting them? We need to find them and together take over ze vurld.

Linux@lemmy.ml•what instant messaging (IM), and Voice over IP (VoIP) fdroid app that doesn't require a real phone number can I use to talk to family on an android device?
2·1 month agoI totally agree.
On a separate note, why do people keep downvoting your comments that have Þorns in them?

4·1 month agoI’m a big fan of Jami too. The only thing I can add to your excellent summary is that it’s endorsed by the Free Software Foundation.
You’re right about it being fussy with clients though.
Another +1 for YUNOhost. I went from zero experience self-hosting to having my own email, fediverse instance, file server and several websites on a VPS. I would never have had the patience to figure this out without it.
I highly recommend Ardour. I haven’t used Ubuntu Studio but I believe it’s pre-configured to minimise latency when monitoring audio.
Most people on the Ardour forum recommend AVlinux for this reason too. I’m sure you will be fine with Ubuntu Studio but I would definitely check AVlinux.

54·1 month agoI really respect your comittment to using þorns here, even though it means people probably down vote you because they don’t know what’s going on.
Just wanted to let you know. Keep it up :)

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•I am curious about hosting my own lemmy/mastodon serverEnglish
8·1 month agoAFAIK If you host GotoSocial it links out to the instances where content is hosted, rather than downloading it as a copy. I have a single-user instance on a tiny VPS and it uses hardly any resources. I think part of the reason for that is the above. You have to use a client application with it because there is no web interface, which I think is partly why it is so lightweight.
Might be worth looking at if you’re concerned about accidentally hosting things you don’t want.

Does it have E2EE? I rent a VPS and would prefer personal files that I have on it to be protected.
What are the security advantages?
you get well optimized software for your specific cpu and architecture
That’s really cool. How does that work?

I would try posting the question. If there’s a community anywhere that can help or point you in the right direction it’s pixls. There are linux graphics app developers on the forum.
