in my experience, reddit advertising has been idiotic for several years.

I go to a basketball subreddit. there are no relevant ads about basketball. not local team tickets, not streaming services, basketball equipment, basketball merch, or even a video game.

I go to a subreddit for a tv show. it’s similar. There are no ads or links to buy dvds or tickets to a convention or anything related to the show.

They could totally target advertising based on subreddit and they don’t.

I despise him, but 1 of 2 good things I think he did was call out NATO nations for not contributing their fair share. Merkel’s face when he said this was like that of a dog that’s been caught getting into the cupboard.

(the other thing he did was to call out drug companies for making medications so expensive. of course he didn’t followup, but that was a good thing to say)

I’m transitioning to lemmy but it’s not easy. I can login to my account with an app, but not with any of my desktop browsers. Following users on other instances is unintuitive. Plus there are tons of fake “official” accounts I can’t filter away.
