We can learn from it, the good and the bad.
We can learn from it, the good and the bad.
“But if I lick boot hard enough maybe one day I’ll get to be an owner and control them!”
That’s why we need to stop relying on idols and figureheads. I dont even necessarily think we need to organize, but to act as individuals capable of operating independently from central leadership. Most of us have the same goal, after all. It’s just most of us are still too comfortable or afraid to do anything, and that’s because we invested too much in leaders or orgs that we watch get assassinated and destroyed. But they can’t get all of us, especially if we act independently, and soon.
Isn’t this sorta how the Corporate Wars started in the Cyberpunk universe?
What about the £36 trillion in offshore tax havens as of 2016 which is probably much bigger now. That’s not tied up into assets, that’s liquid like a Well of Souls.
WW3 won’t be a nuclear war between States. WW3 will be a global class uprising, I just fear we’ll have to go through 100+ years of ‘Equilibrium’ or ‘V for Vendetta’ type dystopia before that happens. Why does that have to be the sensible approach? Why not rip off the bandaids now while billionaires addresses are still public information?
Almost everyone has family members or friends that vote far-right and we need to talk to them
I try. My family calls themselves left of center and liberal, yet no books on Marx but certainly have books on Hitler. My brother who works in finance lauds great mathematicians in history, but he won’t read about Einstein’s politics because I smoke weed therefore my recommendation is “hard to take seriously.” They think the rise of fascism is just media sensationalism, and things are better than ever because “the markets say so / GDP is higher than ever.” I try to explain, through the words of economists, that GDP and markets aren’t a good measure of wealth disparity, and they accuse me of being envious that I don’t have as much money as them. I try to explain that money isn’t everything, they roll their eyes like i’m on some hippy-revolutionary kool aid and no different from MAGA. They say I should stop worrying about “the news” and “focus on yourself,” meanwhile i’m disabled from hyperthyroidism and they roll their eyes at my pain and immobility like i’m being lazy. They don’t read anything, they’ll be the first to admit they choose to stay away from politics, while simultaneously acting like they have the most informed and balanced perspective. Fuck “enlightened centrists” they walk and talk just like fascists do.
Yeah grow a food coop for the first band of fascist thugs that show up with guns. We need to arm ourselves and train just as much as decentralize our food. If you think they’ll go away peacefully and leave our gardens alone you’re horribly naive.
Also seen plenty centrist democrats blame protest voters as if that had more of an effect than the democrats bending over for republicans.
They’re already here, so much Nazi apologia has appeared all of a sudden.
Nazis had to start somewhere too, they didn’t come out the gate with mass murder, it was called “The Final Solution” because their other “Solutions” failed (deportation, segregation, ghettos, work camps, etc.) The Nazis were once just a fringe group that nobody took seriously, and here you are trying to say that two open Nazi salutes isn’t that big a deal. Your red arm band is showing.
Wow thank you for the incredibly balanced argument. I really want to switch to Linux for all the obvious reasons, but it’s the same cliche reason why I don’t - I’m too much of a bitch-dude to make such a big change to something I use and operate on the daily without certainty. But as i’ve said, the moment say Valve come out with a SteamOS for desktop which is basically Windows through and through minus the bloatware and corruption (that isn’t to say Valve isn’t corrupt but they’re not making weapons for Israel) is the day I switch with no qualms. Like many I’m far too used to the interface and compatability of Windows still.
Nothing wrong with defending your team, that’s something us leftists are guilty of that we try to dunk on eachother more than organize and cooperate like our theory keeps telling us. Even if it takes a bit of scumbaggery, we’re stuck between the fear of maybe getting it wrong and not doing anything. I think the latter is worse.
I just wanna stop feeling bad when Muta yells at me.
I left reddit because I was banned for saying “People can vote.” I find more nuanced discussions and less censorship here, it’s just that in a free non-corporate space conservatism is just an unpopular ideology when one of their leaders does a Nazi salute at the conservative winning presidential inauguration. But go ahead, put on your boots and uniform and maybe your Father will give you a medal for owning the libs.
What’s your point?
It’s like that feeling on the diving board before you jump in the pool without knowing how warm or cold the water is. I’m still afraid of getting wet, if you know what I mean.
Your comparing people who want trans rights and universal healthcare to people who want to shoot pregnant women in the back of the head and load their children into ovens and gas chambers.
At least you’re not using chatgpt to figure out the best way to talk to people, like my brother in finance tech does now.
