Linux@lemmy.ml•Do you think Linux popularity will be slow steady growth or a big a jump in popularityEnglish
1·1 day agoevery day i use windows less than the day before. i still ‘need’ it for some things, including work, but on a personal level it’s almost entirely linux lately… but it’s been a three decade journey.
“onion chips and a plate of cheese burgers… make that two.”
two chips or two plates of burgers?
“yes, please”

2·2 days agoi’ve run across some people around here who i would never have guessed knew about linux… and not only did they know–they ran it. and yea, more than one was ‘i use arch btw’.
it sure catches the eye.
velveeta has a similar recipe as the ‘singles’, it contains some cheese, but also a lot of stuff that isn’t.
the cheese slices that fast food burger joints (mcdonalds, bk, etc) use is real cheese. the “zomg americans don’t know what cheese is” stuff… the wrapped ‘singles’ is the processed junk-restaurants don’t normally use that on sandwiches or burgers, but they might use it or velveeta (similar but sold in blocks) in a smooth melty sauce or something. i use it in some hotdishes and part of the cheeses i put in homemade mac & cheese.

do not get a vizio. that’s walmart trash now.
can those be “set up properly” without having to use a wm or google account?
am still an Android engineer, but all my TV systems are Apple TV. This should tell you everything.
i run into other cases like that… ‘i work on x but use y instead’.
hell, i work in and on windows shit and “smart” devices, but i run linux and have a flip phone.
very similar to my dietpi running on a low-power sff, except i use the hotspot app in dietpi and leave the guest ssid on the main router for stuff i dont want going through the pihole|adguard home (but don’t want on the main network)
that’s a nice idea, but when they catch-on it probably wouldn’t survive six months before breaking changes are implemented on the backend somewhere.
pi or old pc/laptop, maybe? with remote control or mini wireless kb/mouse (what i use, one with trackpad integrated) or one of these remote control sized ones?
