Theyve been dumbing down systems since before Skyrim honestly, it’s been the consistent complaint ever since Morrowind came out.

Which is why I’m saying it isn’t malicious on their part. Calling it malicious implies that they are ignorant out of spite. There are people like that, and many people who are malicious in taking advantage of them, but my 70 year old coworker who just doesn’t understand LGBT people and hasn’t talked to enough black people in their life isn’t malicious, just purely ignorant and scared of change.

They aren’t choosing to be stupid as part of some evil plot, they’re just ignorant and don’t want to change because they don’t think they should have to.

The problem is, a lot of the people who support these people are just… Stupid

I have known many a coworker who talked about voting for trump and every time I engage them in conversation about it I realize all their genuine beliefs are against the GOPs policies entirely. They just are scared of things they don’t understand and like them talking about how scary minorities are.

The game is incredibly grindy, as other have said, but honestly I’d argue that’s kind of the point of the game. It’s kind of made for the grind, you’re always farming for some new thing or trying to get the perfect build for your Warframe, it’s just how it is.

What is kind of cool on the micro transaction side is that people can trade the premium currency. So there are a lot of things you can’t just buy from the in game store with platinum, but people can farm for it and trade it. So you can farm for desirable blueprints and parts and such and then sell them to other players for premium currency. It’s a very cool system, I think.

Iirc it wasn’t even Meier’s idea to put his name on the games. He was a well known figure in the simulation game genre so when his company was making Pirates! the other co-founder, Bill Stealey, had the idea of putting his name on the box because it was a big departure from their usual games. The idea worked and they just started using his name for every game.

Only if they’re independent developers of the game, which is why you shouldn’t pirate little indie games. Otherwise they already got paid as much as they’re gonna get paid, only people losing money when you pirate a game are the executives.

What do you mean by “further democratized”? You can already just download Godot and make a game for free right now. Or are you talking about AI supposedly making it easier for people to make games?

Yeah 4chan is basically just the chaotic form of social media. Near absolute anonymity and essentially no rules as to what you can post will result in some rancid shit, but also is just as capable of pretty good content.

Man used to be used the way we use the word “human” in modern English, with there being modifiers to signify male or female. At some point we just dropped modifiers for male and decided “man” meant male. However man is still used as a general term for people. There’s definitely patriarchal connotations to it but that’s why you still see it.

Honestly as someone who plays WoW it just generally feels like the developers are in a better environment now than they were a few years back.

It’s a convention for writing checks. If the dollar amount on a check read “300.00$” there’s nothing stopping me from writing “1300.00$” on there. But if you put “$300.00” that number is enclosed on both sides and there is no chance of being able to modify it (without significantly more effort that can be much more easily noticed)

That’s the most baffling MMO decision I’ve seen, tbh. WoW has plenty of issues but at least they aren’t just deleting the continent of Northrend to save on install space or anything

They wanted it to be a live service, which is famously expensive to develop. They have to pay people to be constantly developing content on top of the insane prices of releasing and marketing a AAA game in the first place. Usually these games make money through microtransactions and/or subscription fees but no one wanted to play the game in the first place so hardly anyone was buying any of the extra content after initial release.

I think AI could be great for more powerful procedural generation. Rather than just using AI generated textures like some games do now I think AI could be great for tiling and adding variation to pre existing textures within games without making it look “AI generated” for example.
