If you make depictions of a specific Ghibli character or scene that would be one thing. They want to ban people from making their own unique images and characters, including self portraits, in a specific style. That’s more like trying to take ownership of a color of paint. “Can’t use red in any of your paintings or drawings, red belongs to me.”

The name of it sounds like a streaming service for children’s movies and TV shows. Like, Netflix for kids. In the past 5 years I have seen at least 3 deepweb social communities that started out normally, with a lot of people talking shit and enjoying anonymous free speech. Then I log in a couple weeks or months later to find CP being posted and no mods doing anything to stop it. In all those cases, I reported the site to the FBI anonymously and erased my login from my password manager.
The manufacturers don’t have to provide open source drivers, They could offer the drivers to other companies besides Google though. Why do you suppose they don’t?
You are talking about phones made by Google. I am talking about ALL the phones using Android and how difficult or sometimes impossible it is to use anything but Android. I am talking about (oranges) a monopoly on phone operating systems. And you are saying what great (apples) phones Google produces.
Unlock so you can use whatever phone service provider you want but Google controls the Android operating system. If you don’t want Android on your phone and would rather use Linux or another FOSS operating system, it’s very difficult, because Google doesn’t give up control of the drivers for a lot of phones. If you just want to remove Google apps from a phone that comes with Android, you have to jailbreak it which voids the warranty and jailbreaking can’t be done to every phone.
How about not letting Google have exclusive rights to the drivers for all the phone hardware? I would like to be able to install Linux on any phone I buy. I don’t want Google monopolizing phone operating systems. #FOSS #Linux #FuckGoogle #Monopoly #deGoogle
This literally happened to my great grandfather in the late 1920s. He bought a car, got distracted by the sight of a pretty lady, and drove into a swamp. He was yelling “whoa! whoa!” and pulling back on the steering wheel while the car went off the road. That is what he had done his whole life to stop a horse drawn buggy in an emergency. He told my grandfather, who was riding with him at the time, that he could have the car if he could get it out of the swamp. He said he was going back to his horse and buggy because a horse wouldn’t have run off the road into a swamp no matter what he looked at. How is that different than a human artist using their eyes to look at some Ghibli art, taking inspiration from the style, and making a unique drawing or painting with the same style? Artists take inspiration from and copy the style of other artists all the time. If I had the ability to copy the style of Leonardo da Vinci and if I made a painting of my daughter posing like the Mona Lisa on a street in New York, would I be counterfeiting the Mona Lisa? Same style, same pose, different character different backdrop, inspired by the original but not a copy of the original.
