  • Ollie went to the neighborhood dance

And he won the big door prize

It was a toilet brush, and he took it home,

And next week some of the guys

They said, "Ollie how’s that toilet brush?

“The one you won from the neighbors?”

Ollie said, "It works pretty good,

    “But I prefer toilet paper”

  • So i decided, since work finished early today, to see if an update fixes the controller.

First i get an Xbox games login requirement using my email, so i do that and get an error, and have to force the program closed via steam.

I try again and am greeted with the (expected) required update message

I’m now waiting for the fifteen GB update to download.

I’ll report back to let you know if my joystick works after this

E: yeah that took 20 minutes to download and another ten to install. Joystick throttle still doesn’t function correctly in flight, even though it maps correctly

  • Dude I’m happy for you. I don’t play often, and when i do there’s always some giant update to slog through. As is typical for Microsoft, the updates are forced and at the most inconvenient time. My free time is rare and precious.

The last time i tried to play my joystick was borked in MSFS, but worked fine in Squadrons. I haven’t tried to play since

Yes the updates have a point, but the forced nature and size of them isn’t convenient and feels arbitrary. Likely others feel the same way I do

What I want is a game I can sit down and play on the rare occasions where I have a couple free hours. MSFS isn’t that game. I wish it was, because when i can play it, it’s amazing

  • If the urban area is too densely populated there may not be enough blooming plants to support a colony. TBH close neighbors wouldn’t really be affected, or even notice, unless they are hyper-aware of bees due to an allergy or phobia. Our neighbor kept bees right beside our apartment complex and no one noticed at all

These wall units look really slick, but the hive entrance needs to be accessable from the outside, and the inside of hive itself needs to be accessable from time to time, even if the beekeeper doesn’t plan on harvesting honey. I only have a little knowledge of beekeeping, but I do know they don’t just run themselves. Keeping a hive healthy requires regular attention and work. Kind of like houseplants, actually

  • TBH, smaller communities with more engagement is better IMO. If you don’t get in early there’s no chance to do more than passively comment and get no reply. If I’m going to engage in conversation I’d like at least a little back and forth. Where the lack of volume really is felt is in niche subjects

Dunno where I’m going with this, but your point is valid. I just kinda like the small web feel. Reminds me of early Internet days

  • I have a friend that works with a rescue group in Colorado, almost exclusively for cattle dogs. They rescue and re-home the dogs for a variety of reasons. The most prevalent is the dog can’t work anymore and will be put down. That’s it. It got too old and is consuming resources without producing.

I’m not saying all farmers and ranchers are like this, but the mentality certainly exists. These people see certain life as a commodity only, and it often extends to cruelty to “lower life”. It’s even at the root of calling people who aren’t in their tribe “lower life”, and devaluing them accordingly
