This doesn’t really surprise me, I’ve gotten weird vibes from Pimax for years. Not so much to do with their hardware, but how their sales / promo team operates. A while back at my old workplace we randomly got contacted by Pimax trying to have us carry their headset, which was weird since we didn’t sell VR stuff or computers even, just other electronics. It was a very out of place request which we basically said we wouldn’t consider it until we can verify the quality of the headset, after which they never replied.

But yes, an important distinction to make is that certain Linux distributions may use code by others that is not open source and malicious without them realizing.

I mean, but we pretty much do know? The difference between Linux and Windows / MacOS is Linux is open source and can be checked and audited by anyone. If an exploit exists, it will be visible publicly and just needs to be spotted by those knowledgeable enough. Windows and MacOS are more than likely audited too but by private companies under NDA, so then it’s left up to Microsoft or Apple to decide what exploits are fixed.

Yeah Kiwix is great for this, I just put together what this company is essentially selling for free by myself a few months ago. In fact I would be surprised if this company wasn’t using Kiwix as most of the resources they listed are on it already.

I don’t know if I would call it lying per-se, but yes I have seen instances of AI’s being told not to use a specific tool and them using them anyways, Neuro-sama comes to mind. I think in those cases it is mostly the front end agreeing not to lie (as that is what it determines the operator would want to hear) but having no means to actually control the other functions going on.
