  • It’s so very kind of you to imagine good will behind their motives. I am very sorry to inform you that is incorrect, they very much don’t want their clothes available in charities or even discounted, because it cheapens their brand overall. It’s malicious, as all capitalism, inherently, is. They don’t want “poor” people wearing their brands. They would rather take a loss, than sell the item at discount, they very much have infrastructure available to afford other avenues, they choose not to, because scarcity invokes a higher price on their product. Plus the status of high prices, keeps a ratio of higher price per product, which means a higher profit margin per product, the item probably costs them 5c to make, they sell it for hundreds, what they most want is to protect that margin, if their last season stock were available at half price, anywhere, people en masse would just buy last seasons stock. Destroying it, even though they make a massive loss by doing that, protects their future profits.

  • Likely just double sided tape. That would gather dust where exposed, (not stuck to wires, bit) though. As I found out from doing the same thing with a super long lamp cable, in my bathroom, where we only had a heatlamp, and that sucked in summer. But also the power point was in an awkward place, so I dangled a lamp from the ceiling, but after taking it down, and being too lazy to remove the tape, now it’s fly catching tape.

  • My grandson has taken multiple of my phones for a bath, they all said waterproof. Guess why I said multiple phones. Well, some he broke by smashing them.

    Fun times!

Problem with the waterproof rating with phones is they heat up, or overheat, one day and bam, no more waterproofing. I definitely wouldn’t recommend pushing it.

  • On top of the suggestions to use baseball caps, medical face masks, big sunglasses or infrared blocking sunglasses, (while suggesting all the other anti surveillance stuff goes obsolete too quickly), I bet old school sweat bands would work a treat, added in the mix, too. You could pull them over your eye brows, even, or ears. Or headbands pulled down. If you just have to obscure enough of your face, with coverings, to reduce a match, as suggested.

  • I feel like that’s one of those things that, even if you could do it, you shouldn’t. I wasn’t really being serious, so much.

If you’re sure you want me to attempt to play mind reader, just for funsies, I suppose I could. My trauma is I had to grow up guessing what everyone was gunna do, because none of the adults were even a tiny bit safe, so I got sort of a little bit good at the guessing game, sort of. I’ve never tested it on internet strangers though.

That said, my dating history would completely oppose previous statements… So maybe I just think I’m a little bit good at something, but really I suck.

  • See but I think we’re both actually saying the same thing. The amount of factors that go into calories in vs calories out, essentially makes it unusable. Just looking at calories as a base whole product, not the individual piece of food and the nutrients it provides, is mad. By that rationale you could just live on oranges. They’re calories, or junk food. Calories.

It’s not calculable, how one individual body absorbs, processes, and then manufactures the essential nutrients it needs, from “calories”. It’s essentially saying how much food in vs how much food burning out. But that’s not how fat is turned from fat to energy consumption, by the human body. It has nothing about the essential needs of the body.

It’s a myth perpetuated by diet industry that only keeps you on the hamster wheel of weight loss and, for most people not genetically gifted, never really works. Or only works short term but then your body goes into survival mode, and stacks it all, and more, back on.

Here’s a an article that might help say things better than I am. https://www.sydney.edu.au/news-opinion/news/2023/07/05/its-time-to-bust-the-calories-in-calories-out-weight-loss-myth.html
