There’s a few rough areas such as Boston which is trash for FPS on all systems (I got like 35ish there on Deck), but it’s easily remedied with mods. I run ~20 mods when playing “vanilla” and got a locked 50 FPS through an entire playthrough. The game makes sense to be Deck verified.
There was a demo for a technology put out recently that circumvents this. I don’t remember the exact mechanisms, but it obscured DNS such that your ISP couldn’t see the DNS record you requested, and then used a proxy to route traffic before it hit the final endpoint eliminating exposing the IP to your ISP. It worked very similar to a VPN, but without the encrypted connection, and had some speed focused optimizations including the proxy being proximate to your ISP. It was pretty interesting.
I don’t necessarily agree. If a brand makes high quality stuff I’m not gonna avoid them just because they put their logo on their stuff. I have a kickass Adidas backpack from 2014 that is by far my favorite, and I’ll be damned if I’m gonna get rid of it just because it has an Adidas logo on it.
I also have perfectly good clothes with various brands on them, and I’m not just gonna throw them away because that’s wasteful as hell. I don’t go out of my way to buy stuff with brands on them, but that won’t stop me from buying something I genuinely like and find to be high quality.
Should be at least double in the US since it would be consultancy work which brings higher taxes (1099 vs W2) and no benefits. A $500 full day consultation is super cheap.
I often use that as a source of encouragement rather than defeat. My two favorite sports are snowboarding and muay thai which are filled with people who’ve been practicing before they formed memories. If a child is better than me then I’m almost certainly capable of becoming that good with continued practice. Even if it takes years it’s something to aspire to regardless of the relative age difference. I was one of those kids who was way better than a lot of people on a dirt bike. I was put on a dirt bike at the age of 4 and don’t even remember learning, so it’s not like it’s a fair comparison. Just run your own race and aspire to be like those around you.
I don’t think it’s diminishing the work of the Yuzu devs, but more so a strong belief in the capabilities of the open source community. They worked their asses off and are extremely talented, and I’m sure there are others who will hop in and carry the torch.
I’m also curious if there’s a programmatic way to circumvent the argument Nintendo made about bypassing DMCA by separating the emulator from the code that utilizes the keys such that you can use tool A to bypass DMCA, and tool B (Yuzu with game decryption removed) to run the circumvented game. In this case tool A already exists, and tool B could be a fork of Yuzu.
Not OP, but I just use ZeroTier for this since it’s dead simple to setup and free. I’m sure there’s some 100% self-hosted solutions, but it’s worked for me without issue.
I can’t think of any neighborhood in SF where I’d choose one of these places over literally anywhere else. Too much good cheap food here.
It’s trained on western media so this shouldn’t be surprising as those are the two biggest threats to the western world. An AI trained on China’s intranet would likely nuke the US, Russia, and select SEA countries.

I worked on a stupid niche service called Ground Station, and my favorite call ever was telling a customer their satellite crossed LOS with the ISS so we couldn’t transmit at their scheduled time (you never transmit directly at the ISS for obvious reasons). Somehow even that took multiple explanations for them to get that it was not our fault, and that we’d be breaking the law in pretty much every country on the planet if our antennas did not stop us from doing so.
It still seems incredibly over engineered. Every window I’ve used in the US has a latch you flip out that prevents the window from opening more than a couple inches so that it’s still effectively locked. Newer windows here are also all double or triple panes with inert glass in between the panels for insulation.
Yeah while the European windows are interesting I don’t really get why having a window open 50 different ways is useful. It seems like an over-engineered solution to just cracking the window. I also can’t imagine it’s more reliable than the good ole vertical/horizontal sliding windows which are in just a window in a track.
Many houses in the northeast have the old school vertical sliding windows with an extra glass pane that can be dropped in front of the screen. This creates an air insulated barrier between the internal and external glass panes and even on the 100+ year old windows I’ve seen they insulate very well.

Not at my computer so I can’t double check, but I believe you can replace the outer double quotes with single quotes. I’d also remove the spaces before and after the equal sign for the alias. I don’t know about fish but I know bash doesn’t like when you add spaces there.
Fair enough, but as someone who has worked closely with the Decky Loader maintainers and contributed my own stand alone plugin I get it. We basically all have day jobs as devs and it can be mentally taxing to do more PRs at home. Not to mention sometimes there’s just not enough time in the day, and I don’t even have kids.
Maintainers are ultimately volunteers doing work with hundreds of dollars an hour for free. I’ve had some PRs take 20+ days to be looked at, it’s just how it goes.
I mean the whole concept of the fediverse is inherently going to attract the more paranoid of people who don’t want to have big tech down their throat 24/7. The people most aware of this are those that work in/adjacent to big tech, and have enough understanding to be genuinely concerned about the state of the internet. Not that you have to be in tech to use/enjoy the Fediverse, but Lemmy is inherently inconvenient and less content rich than Reddit so it’s going to create more niche/less diverse communities who have common interests.
Tech also has a very large trans demographic compared to the general population, and you can see that reflected on Lemmy too. The whole platform is largely going to reflect tech demographics until it is well known by the general public.
I’m just glad most people here are nice and willing to have open discussions. I’ve seen more threads of people disagreeing and reaching common ground than anywhere else.
From what I’ve seen one dude is salty and everyone else (including myself) is happy to have your contributions! I don’t necessarily agree with you on everything you post, but you’re respectful and actually back up what you say. I respect that a hell of a lot more than someone who I’m in complete agreement with, but plugs their ears at the first sign of pushback.
The Flying Squid is someone who contributes to Lemmy comment sections a ton. They’re super friendly and also add a lot of discussion. Given the nature of Lemmy being so small though they stand out because they’re often leading discussions. Pretty much just a really good discussion contributor who is super recognizable.
This has been the trend since early 2010. More and more games made by small companies are exploding and outselling AAA games. Stardew Valley had its all time peak 2 months ago despite being 8 years old, Dave the Diver popped off last year, Helldivers 2 broke records before Sony decided to fuck it up and subsequently get dragged through the mud, and Hades 2 is apparently awesome.
The slow death of AAA games has been great to watch. There’s so much more variety than 5 years ago and you don’t have to give your money to soulless corporations to enjoy them.
