To be honest yeah that’s fair. No one is forcing you to get the license and from what I read in this comment section, the ads are minimal.
I only replied because your earlier comment sounded like you were patronizing someone for not being able to spend $20 on a lemmy app.

Hard agree. $100 is a lot for a simple reddit app when there are multiple just as good alternatives available for free. It’s not a large amount but not a small amount either specially for people who are living in economically weaker countries.

For a lot of people $20 isn’t a figure that they’d be spending on something that’s having really good alternatives available for free.
Not saying that sync is bad or anything but the way you keep repeating how $20 or $90 for a lifetime licence is a steal sounds so patronizing to the people who can’t afford it.

I never changed my opinion just so I get more karma on reddit either.
Lemmy’s system is no different from Reddit’s and my original comment was sarcastic. I’ve noticed sarcastic posts without /s get downvoted more easily on Lemmy for whatever reason.
Reddit bad lemmy good, you are not allowed to say otherwise.

1531·1 year agoThat is just wishful thinking. A large number of people on reddit still use it a lot. Enough to not mind sitting there and moderating. If someone stops moderating they know they can be replaced really quickly now.
The amount of people who just want to shit on reddit with their unrealistic expectations is unbelievable lmao
