You know what I don’t get? I am in no way in favour of the right wing, hOwEvEr I do not understand this extreme hate against anybody that the rather left community of lemmy that I have fitted in is overtly displaying. As an example, of course, Nazis have had an incredibly unethical view and have hurt others with bad apparent reasoning, but why the hell would you make a meme of left communities kicking them to death, making the left wing look equally destructive as the right wing. One unifying, one individualising, in other words one generalising people, the other splitting them apart, both willing to kill the other community. Wouldn’t it be more productive to accept each other and not build opposing ethical parties? I am able to display no view of ethicality in sacrifice to the peace of other humans, no matter how skewed I think their views are, so why can’t others? I have had close friends that were, well, incredibly racist, incredibly unaccepting of anything else than their “ideal” of a human and close friends that were defendent of anyone, trying to level the playingfield for everyone, which is not a proper solution to inequality, as it directly puts offenders in a worse position, however neither is killing those of “lesser value” until only equal is left. True equality in and of itself is exactly as bad as seperation through identification, both of which both communities rigurously want. I may have not liked actions of both, as for example I for one do not like someone else to defend someone in a matter that they have nothing to do with, however I also do not want others to be treated like shit because of what they are. Which is both appliccable to both of the mentioned groups. It would be so incredibly easy to just live like kids do. See someone, get interested, like them or not, accept them and laugh with them even if they’re different. No undefined overgeneralised concepts, just an ego oriented world view. Wherein someone can find themselves caring for others, which in some ways is still egoistic, as it is driven by your own heart. I for example do not like people with ADHD. Not because they’re bad humans, but because I am really sensitive and get stressed out by noise. This act of dislike is solely out of my own wellness, but I hurt nobody with me trying to get away from the people I do not like. It gets destructive when we don’t move but make others move. Also, me ranting to some random that tried to explain a joke to me lmao.

  • Well to truthfully answer your question, ignoring your apparent frustration, Linux is not an operating system for the faint hearted. It is often highly technical and community driven. As a result, it can also be quite hard or just frustrating to use (for some users).

Saving a file in GIMP is basically saving the workspace. Elements that you create inside of GIMP get saved as individually. Exporting the file will let you get an actual image file (like a png or jpg or bitmap what have you), as is it that way with most pieces of software on most operating systems. Export almost always means “Gimme the end result”. Like in 3d modeling software, where at export you can choose if it’s an stl or whatnot and when saving, you save the actual workspace.

As for your screen recording tool, I don’t know as I don’t use it. But it is likely that it has a config as almost everything does in Linux and that the imaging format can be changed there permanently. If it does not have such a config I’d ditch it for something else tbh.
