On Lemmy, the modlog is not hidden and is open to all.
I don’t know how you’re seeing it on sh.it.just.works, but on lemmy.world it’s a link in the lower right of every page, down at the very end where it says

To see removed comments you would sort by action. Or if it’s your own comments that are gone, you would sort by user. And then just browse.
It’s sorted by reverse date, so newest are first, but if the removal is within the last day it’ll still be in the first couple of pages.
I also am fairly certain (but don’t quote me on this) that if you want to see the removed comments for a specific community you should access the modlog on that page, to ensure that you’re seeing the modlog for the instance hosting that community and not the modlog for your home instance.

No, Reddit did not always inform you when they removed your comments; far from it. In the bigger subs it’s actually rare, and anymore they just remove AND shadowban you. Removed comments used to be easy to find, but these days post-APIcalypse you need to run your Reddit user ID through the Reveddit tool to see all your removed comments there.

Yeah, you and me both. But I’d be willing to do it for one or two, just to be able to prove that THIS laptop can and will run Linux with its current hardware, should he choose install it.
Also, the only thing lost by modifying LiveUSB trials is my time. If I corrupt the image, or it doesn’t work, or I make it crap out somehow – all of which is likely, lol – I still have done no harm at all. It’s just a USB stick. And I will also have learned a few things along the way, like how Linux distros install and use drivers.
you would be installing the firmware on the Linux system, not onto the WiFi module.
Then technically (not that I personally have the chops to do it) this “firmware” could also be something plugged into the distro on the LiveUSB stick along with the wl driver. That distro is getting its current drivers from somewhere on that USB already, so I’m not reinventing the wheel, just adding to what is already there.

Oh, well, that's a bit late, since I already used uBlock Origin to deselect the categories of ads that I do not wish to see (all), and then used my feet to deselect the Reddit I do not wish to see (all).

For faking user engagement and creating content and pretending like hordes of actual humans haven't left and real eyes are actually looking at all these ads, yes.
I don’t know why Reddit would deal in bots when it has more powerful tools at hand.
Cheap, easy, impossible for outsiders to quantify, approaching IPO and cash to be made, keeping ad revenue the same without revealing how many actual users have fled the site, etc.

Of all the things Reddit can't or won't do, AI is absolutely NOT one of them.
It's absolutely Reddit doing that. Buts use API calls, and Reddit has API calls locked down now. Bots have to request access, at the very least.
And given Spez et al's overwhelmingly stalwart commitment to honesty, transparency, and not fucking over his user base (lol) how are you so sure it's not Reddit doing that, when that's exactly what they did to boost numbers when Reddit was new?

No, individual vote fuzzing started years ago, and is a separate factor. This is new. What I am speaking of started within the last year, and involves the percentage upvoted to not dip below a certain threshold. To reiterate:
On old Reddit if you look up in the upper left of a post, it will give you a “% upvoted” figure, and that’s what I was referring to, just so we’re clear.

There’s also artificial Reddit votes where someone upvotes and Reddit adds a downvote to delete their vote
That one is new to me. Though I do not doubt it: it goes hand in hand with all the other vote manipulation they’ve gotten up to lately. If I may ask, where did you see this?

They’ve also done some fuckery with the downvotes. I noticed that right around the time of the mass exodus, certain comments could not be downvoted lower than zero, and posts could not be downvoted lower than some percentage in the teens (14% or 12% upvoted, something like that). Even Spez’s infamous town hall post where he laid all that shit on Christian Selig in June, which was literally getting downvotes in the thousands, never went below some teen percent upvoted, when in reality it had to be far fewer.
I got the same impression looking through the above post as well: lots of people disagreeing with the admin (who disappeared VERY quickly when asked anything of substance) but they somehow seemed to maintain a vote count in the single digits anyway.
I could be wrong about this second point, I haven’t been there in a while, but the first one I’d swear to: check it out on old Reddit if you’re interested.

And it’s not the first time. You could almost say it’s what Reddit is built on. When Reddit was first launched, the founders used alts to build numbers; now it’s bots.
My own personal view is that they’ve used bots all along. More recently, they made up for drastically reduced numbers last summer with bots, and that’s when the writing was really on the wall for Reddit because at some point it becomes a serious legal liability to continue to sell ad space and accept ad money based on numbers of users and posts that simply do not exist in reality.
So the IPO has to happen sooner rather than later, and RDDT will tank as soon as it goes public, which is why they’re trying to sell the rubes as many shares as they can at a guaranteed pre-IPO price: that’s free money for them, which they will take and go while Reddit implodes.
