Cool ty. Advertising is a non starter for me so it sounds like KDE neon is the way to go. I also prefer a more minimalist approach (but not at the cost of stability) so that seems like a better fit too.

Do you have any thoughts on KDE neon vs kubuntu? I’m looking to get back into daily driving Linux after a multi year break

To your second point I have run stremio on a chromecast and it’s been fine. But I also don’t stream anything higher than 1080p

It’s a little bit of brain damage to figure it out but once it’s all set up the *arr stuff and Jellyfin makes it pretty painless

Depends what you want to do. You can do stremio + real debrid on just about anything but if you want to do your own server I would get a cheap used tower off of eBay that has an intel processor with integrated graphics and throw Ubuntu server on it and drop in a commercial NAS drive for storage like a WD Red. I did that for ~300 and am happy with the results (half of that budget was storage)

Do you have kids? I would have thought the same before becoming a parent but raising kids is really hard particularly without any support networks. Everyone is just trying to do the best they can. I try really hard not to judge other people’s parenting, the only shitty parenting is being absent or abusive imo. Any parenting that raises kids to be happy, healthy and loved is good parenting in my book.

I’ve got plenty of friends who are great parents that feed their kid nothing but buttered pasta and vitamins bc it is all they will eat. There’s no reasoning with a five year old and if you draw a hard line you will both be miserable. You can’t “make” them eat anything, they are individuals with agency.
