My game changer was circa 2014 when I broke something and got dropped to a basic shell and for the first time instead of panicking and immediately reinstalling I thought for a moment about what I had just done to break it, and undid the change manually. I use mint on my daily-driver/gaming-rig/mediaserver. I’ve been a Linux user for 20 years, eventually you just want a normal distro with sane defaults. Mint is wonderful.

Depending on how you feel about sailing, there’s some decent “third party acquisition options” for the sims 4 that work with the official stores. I have the complete collection on steam, didn’t pay a dime.

“Overdoing it” doesn’t exist when you understand what it can accomplish. Bedrock Linux for example is based on symlink abuse from what I understand
