There are tradeoffs in every decision you make. To say Linux sucks because it doesn’t meet a specific need is very narrow minded. I love Linux even though it doesn’t meet all of my needs. I don’t like Windows even though it meets many of my needs. I don’t like MacOS though it might meet my needs (haven’t used it in years but I’m not against it).
Your hate for Linux is weird. Just install the OS that works for you and shut the fuck up. Not sure what you stand to gain with these daily shitposts.
If you’re a fan of Windows, start posting about the things that are great about Windows instead of yucking someone else’s yum.
Just block them and their community and move on, you’re not going to have a good faith conversation with them and their presence in comment threads is just rage baiting.

Agree with you 100%. After posting I read the sidebar and the rules make it very clear that it’s their fiefdom to run as they please and they don’t tolerate good-faith discussion. Such is the freedom of the fediverse. I don’t agree with their way of doing things but I respect that they are free to do so.

Semi-related: I wonder if it would be worthwhile to create a list of communities that most newbies to the fediverse should block from the get-go. Like a sort of a “there be dragons” list of places that most reasonable people would probably want to avoid.
A list of what places are active or worth while would be nice too.
Some places can have a lower population and are harder to find but still post kind of regularly.
agree on the move on part, but not the block community part, sometimes there is some funny stuff in that “community” As a vegan Arch user I have to get a good laugh from time to time at myself (not really vegan, and only Arch derived distro)

Yeah, I Made a comment on a post that showed up in my “All” then noticed the community name and blocked it. Noticed a week later when looking through my post history for something else they had banned me, thought eh who cares don’t want to see em anyway.
What were you expecting, for em to say “Haha Linux is godlike, wow so good haha much meme” when the community name says out loud, “Linux sucks”?
I was not expecting them to respond but I was not expecting my response to be deleted immediately. I was hoping for my response to be available for others to see so they could make an informed decision.

Maybe you got banned for different comment and reason and they deleted all comments from you. Maybe they didn’t like your username and didn’t want any comment from you there. Or you broke their rules, I don’t know. What has your comment and you being banned from a different community and instance anything to do with this one? You should discuss it with those instances and moderators, not us.

Ever being frustrated with something? These shitpost places are good for the rest of the world, because they focus on these forums and the rest stays clean. Its kind of like a honeypot and that’s a good thing for the rest. And if those posters feel better posting and talking about it, then they feel better and that’s a good thing too. Like sure man some times you bring up a solid point, but you’re also being a weirdo by making it your life mission. Also no one asked to you put fake blood on your crotch and march around in public to be made fun of, but there you are doing it. You brought it up a notch for no real reason. Yet no ones reading them, no one cares yet he marches down the street proud in his weird world.
What I don’t understand is when you get to the point of making your own subreddit where you only talk to yourself, how do you stay motivated? I’ve relatively recently got into a similar unexpected case, in the same exact community:
- https://lemmy.world/post/48374375 (Welp… that was quick (around 4 minutes to get banned at "/c/linuxsucks)…)Unfortunately, the whole community is likely a Microsoft/Apply/etc. propaganda, or just a very sad, or even psychologically unstable person/people behind it who do what they believe in, and won’t or even afraid of considering other viewpoints encountered.
There’s hope… that some day… they will consider their actions, contribution, and what do they inscribe in the fabric of the infinitely magnificent history…
Meanwhile, I see that you are trying to stay accountable and that is what is important!
Please don’t worry much… and I wish you safe, stability, and peace…Yeah it’s frustrating because madthumbs (and you too) seem to know what they’re talking about to someone like me who is not an expert, but if madthumbs is not going to allow good-faith discussion, newbies who might consider Linux will only get one side of the story.

I propose a new community called linuxsuckssucks@lemmy.world that just copy/pastes the posts from linuxsucks@lemmy.world and allows free discussion.
Just post the same info on any Linux sub. Linux users bash on Linux a lot (pun intended) when it’s deserved. The thing that most people from the outside miss is that we’re very sensitive to what is and isn’t a Linux problem, your game/software not working is not a Linux problem, just like how it’s not an Android problem not to run the same game.
I haven’t seen that community but I would guess the majority of posts there are not actual Linux problems, therefore you might be downvoted and corrected if you post those links on a normal Linux community, but I don’t think any of them would outright ban you unless you were constantly spreading missinformation.
Edit: just gave that community a quick look, currently the top threads are:
- The one you replied, which makes no sense, no one says that’s a bonus, it’s a known issue and is in fact a fault somewhere in the Linux ecosystem. So posting about that issue would be acceptable in any Linux community.
- A post about someone being banned from an online game for using Linux. This is not Linux’s fault, but still would be allowed in any Linux community, the general answer would be to stop giving money to a company that bans people for no good reason, but it is a valid topic of discussion as to how Linux users are mistreated by different companies. But as is the post is a Straw man of “Linux users say X” when no one has said X.
- A post making a joke about Linux being good for development, yet under-develop. The content is about how professionals don’t use Linux, and I think that’s bullshit. A post about how companies force people to use Windows would be better and get the same point across. I have worked in several different companies, one of them I worked for over a year on Linux, writing backed server code, and one day they decided I couldn’t work on Linux anymore. It happens, it would be a valid post on Linux communities as well but it’s not a Linux problem, some companies allow it and it works well for them. Also a Straw man, the joke has no link with the content, and the content is about how people are forced to use a different system and act as if that’s their choice. Bb
- A post about sudoedit, that’s a good one can be reposted as is.
- Meme post that makes no sense outside of that community
- A post about a long list of arguments from Linux users. There are a lot of interesting points of discussion there, but posting everything together is not insentivising discussion. A lot of the arguments there are simply wrong, but a good faith discussion can be had on each of those individually, however the answer to a lot of them will be among the lines of “but that IS Windows fault, or hardware manufacturer purposefully not targeting Linux”. In short this is Gish Gallop, which is not to say there aren’t good critics, but this should be split inyo multiple posts to allow proper discussion of all of them.
So, in short if you reword things I expect you can post most of them on any Linux sub, but word for word might get you downvoted as they’re mostly fallacious arguments.

Madthumbs I’m pretty sure just uses ai to summarize things for him. He slips a lot, he had me going for a while but he straight up lied about having used proton to some user, the user told him madthumbs his experience with proton which is what more accurate to what I remembered when steam deck was released. madthumbs then said something like “huh I remember the experience being subjective, but my ai agreed with what you said!” And then just fucked off completely disregarding what he said before.
He heavily uses ai for his posts too. I mean maybe he is legit and knows what hes talking about but every once and a while it feels like he slips up and I’m unsure. Because a lot of what he says is just basic arguments gemeni will bring up if you ask it “how do I shit on Linux fans” and a lot of stuff he mentions is out dated too. I don’t know.
Sometimes its also just fun to pretend hes Tim Sweeny getting angry drunk alone in his compound in the shittiest part of the prison belt in the united States. And this is what he does in his free time when not furiously masterbaiting to the thought of gabens penis.
