The announcement comes after Donald Trump said he asked the Mexican leader to suspend oil shipments to Cuba. Sheinbaum has warned of a major humanitarian crisis on the Caribbean island.

Yeah, but it’s still not worth it.

There’s SO many ways you can piss off that thin skinned baby without further accelerating the extinction event that is climate change.

Yeah, why is a heavily sanctioned island nation still reliant on oil? They should just make solar panels! It really is quite unusual and problematic to still require fossil fuels in this day and age. With a population about the size of Ohio, their country sure is significant contributor to climate change. I’m sure they’ll be just fine without oil.

Gtfo with that ridiculous false dichotomy.

There are other and better options than “perpetuate reliance on the number one cause of the coming demise of humanity” and “don’t provide any help of any kind”

Another commenter already mentioned helping with renewable energy production in this very thread ffs!

As for assuming that not being a major contributor to climate change on a global scale makes fossil fuels harmless to the people, that’s a “smoking is actually good for you” level of willful blindness to reality 🤦

The fact is that Cubans need power sources now so the smartest thing to do is send oil plus turbines and solar panels.
