Expect major delays and disruptions across Sydney’s road and public transport network on Sunday 3 August.

A public assembly across the Sydney Harbour Bridge will result in the closure of north and southbound lanes of traffic from around 11.30am to around 4pm, but may be later.

    The compaints will be loudest from those that were indoors all weekend, and had no intention of ever driving over the bridge anyways.

      Yeah sounds like it went really well considering. Except for the part where the marchers had to double back?

      Adelaide rally was good. Also bigger then the last monthly rally.

        I was there. The crowd was so large that we must have waited at Wynyard park for an hour before there was space for us to join the march. We got to about 100 meters of the first pylon.

        Our phones started receiving alerts from the police instructing us to stop marching. Then a police helicopter was ordering people to stop marching and claimed to be a direction from the organisers. At that point there was a sea of people behind us as there was in front of us.

        People around us were at first hesitant to trust the police, being that they did try to shut down the rally before it even started. However the police on the day were polite and professional and I think that went a long way. If the goal was to show numbers, that was achieved and there would have been a real concern of crowd crushing.

        The numbers were such that there would have been a good few hours of people crossing the bridge before that call came. Nobody left feeling the day wasn’t a success

      I was surprised to hear how different the other states are. I just assumed Melbourne’s system would let you use a credit card like Sydney’s does, but a tourist told me yesterday that’s not the case.

            Oh, I don’t know if it can be called a solution.

            When I first visited earlier this year and installed it I’m pretty sure the instructions were:

            1. buy a ticket from the list of options in the app before you board

            2. Manually activate the ticket in the app once you’ve boarded

            * Not sure the tickets you buy in app work for all modes of transport …

            In hindsight that seems easier and less confusing then I remember. But still sounds like a nightmare for newcomers.
