While we can’t share the exact definition, we look at moderator actions, modmail actions, and post/comment activity within the subreddit, and designate an “active” status if there is a sustained level of activity over the last ~3 months.

Yep that’s definitely the reason, but overall this might be a good thing for communities
It makes it easier to get rid of old mods, while also allowing them to come back and continue like before. I’m leaning on this change being more good than not

There were definitely a lot of abandoned subs that sat completely unattended for years.
Makes it harder to do protests like the ones before.
