Hero? I thought she used to be a goddess a couple millennia ago? Seems she’s getting demoted fast

Look at Thor and the other Asgardians. It’s the current trend.

Also Isis was a Goa’uld too at some point.

You obviously too young to have seen that series the picture is taken from. She had a human alter ego who inherited the powers of Isis. Reminiscent of Thor in the comics when he was also Dr Donald Blake. Also the example of Thor should open your eyes to someone being a god or goddess and at the same time a superhero

Even the Islamic State has never called themselves ISIS.

First of all, they would use Arabic. Secondly, their full name translates more appropriately to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The Levant is a geographical and historical region that roughly overlaps with what we call Syria today, but is not quite the same. So the better translated acronym would be ISIL. ISIS is a sloppy attempt at westernization.

My understanding (I don’t know much about Arabic) is that Daesh is kind of a westernization of Da’ish, which is itself the latinized version of the Arabic acronym.

Apparently Daesh is what their arabic-speakkng opposition calls them becauss of puns with other negative Arabic words.

It’s pretty shocking how far the standards to be a “buff woman” have shifted over time.

Hell, I remember Xena seeming like a huge woman, and we have members of the US House of Reps who are that big now.

I think things turned sour when the beheadings started, probably even before then.

It used to be a goddess, now she has some completely different relationships with religion.

I meant it more like the name “Isis” and it’s place in social imagery, I know nothing about the character nor the actress.

Oh okay, actually the modern usage would be more accurately “I. S. I. S”, as opposed to a real name… I knew very little about the actress or the goddess when I saw that series as a kid… All I knew was that between her and Wonder Woman (Lynda Carter) I was having my early exposure to female anatomy and it’s effects on me 😂
