Edit: I don’t mean to bash teachers, and I appreciate all the work that they do. This post is coming from an experience I had as a kid in school.

When your mother (middle+ class because she can afford to drive to the school on a week night) yells at the teacher (an overworked and overeducated saint making welfare wages) because they didn’t treat her special baby just right.

Holy shit what kind of meme is this? If you yell at teachers for anything less than directly causing serious harm, you’re cunt. If your mother does it, she’s a cunt. Don’t yell at some of the most selfless workers in society.

I will, under normal circumstances, defend teachers to the death. My mother was one, and I am well aware of the absolute bullshit they face daily.

I have also had a very small handful of teacher who were absolute shitheads, and being yelled at was a small fraction of what they deserved. Not every teacher is a saint.

Whoa that’s a lot of assumptions. This post was made in a light-hearted spirit, but since you want to deconstruct it, here’s an anecdotal story from my own life:

I used to read a lot as a kid. In my school you had to check out books from the library. If you didn’t turn the books in by the end of the semester you had to pay for them.

At the end of one semester I was informed that I would have to pay for a book that I was sure I returned-- like 100% sure. I checked out and returned books all the time and was pretty diligent about it.

That night I told my mom what happened and I was crying while doing so. She asked me if I was sure that I turned the book in and I really was sure. The next morning my mom went up to the school, with me in tow, and made a fuss about it. The charges were dropped.

Moral of the story, just because someone is overworked and underpaid doesn’t mean they are in the right or a saint. It’s a nuanced position but I saw it for myself at a young age.

It happens here all the time man. Like people have no sense of humor and take offense, and come in guns blazing about stuff meant to just laugh at and move on. It’s getting ridiculous

Usually yes, I agree. But it also depends on the scenario. If your kid is genuinely being mistreated, it’s hard to be polite about it. The meme is relatable for any kid who has been in that situation

In the context of the meme, you are telling a child this.

The child doesn’t understand why their mother is yelling, only that they are being “defended”.

Yes, the mom is probably a cunt, unless the circumstance of the meme is that the teacher called their kid a slur or something

I had a teacher send me to the vice principal’s office who tried to scream my bad handwriting into good handwriting. Like, I didn’t do anything actually wrong, I just had bad handwriting. I would say the screaming she got in return was deserved.
