Technology@lemmy.world•Booking.com under fire as hundreds of complaints lodged with Fair TradingEnglish
49·23 days agoBooked a place for relatives to stay nearby. Found out an hour beforehand they had double booked. We had to scramble and find something last minute, ended up splitting the booking between two places to cover our dates, and spent almost double what we budgeted for.
Booking offered a $20 credit on a future reservation. Will never use them again.

24·2 months agoI puke a little in my mouth every time an article humanizes LLMs, even if they’re critical. Exactly as you said they do not “lie” nor are they “trying” to do anything. It’s literally word salad that organized to look like language.

6·3 months agoQuestion as someone who keeps being prevented from switching to Linux because of professional programs that are only Win/Mac.
I often read that you can just use Wine? So I would be in a Linux environment for everything and when I need to use a Windows program it can be run via Wine without leaving that environment?
Or is it a case of having to switch OS’s whenever I need to? Am I confusing that with dual-boot?

It’s like talking with someone who thinks the Earth is flat. There isn’t anything to discuss. They’re objectively wrong.
Humans like to anthropomorphize everything. It’s why you can see a face on a car’s front grille. LLMs are ultra advanced pattern matching algorithms. They do not think or reason or have any kind of opinion or sentience, yet they are being utilized as if they do. Let’s see how it works out for the world, I guess.
