The sad part is that there's a not insignificant number of people out there who would honestly rather embrace the human instrumentality project and never look back.

It might be the Third Place, which has slowly disappeared as people spend more and more time either at work or at home.

If you have not watched evangelion, you should, it's pretty good and pretty short (the entire series is 10h).

Spoiler for the ending of evangelion

The third impact, causes "Human Instrumentality".
Human instrumentality is when the barrier that separates one soul from another is broken.
When that happens, everyone must face the reality of their true self and of other people.
At least four episodes in the show are mostly in this state, completely detached from the real world, exploring the mind of the characters.

I'm considering getting a VR headset. The virtual club is open, the real club… Probably is too but I'm kind of a coward 😞

For all of these reviews we have now, it can't give me a feel for what I can get out if a venue. Good food? Fine. Can I meet people? Can I dance? Will they be accepting of me being a little very different?

Like there is a whole world out there to explore, but I was raised to believe I didn't have to find out for myself. That the answers about where to go, what to do, and what it the best time would just be handed to me. Gotta ask the right person or find out for yourself.

If by cure you mean, to confuse you to a point where you actually forget your own problems… Then yes.
