I get to see this one bloom each year.
Sources on that? I’d guess it would then be more widespread than Australia.
Sources on that?
Not OP, but I was curious too, and I found at least one seemingly credible source: https://findanexpert.unimelb.edu.au/news/13824-silky-oaks-are-older-than-dinosaurs-and-literally-drip-nectar-–-but-watch-out-for-the-cyanide
I’d guess it would then be more widespread than Australia.
Sometimes things just go extinct everywhere else 🤷 Like Tasmanian Devils used to live on the mainland as well.

Ok, it says ancestors of the silk oak tho. I guess there are plants that are actually unchanged from that period, like some ferns.
It kinda looks like the source (which has been linked in other comments) was taking liberty with their phrasing so I suspect the true title should be 'TIL the ancestors of the Silky Oak originated on the super continent Gondwana', which yeah I mean I guess everything did so I can see why they fudged thier phrasing (if indeed they did fudge it).
Looks like I'm a sucker for some good clickbait style writing.
